In our new world of fast paced technology, smartphone companies have skyrocketed in the last decade. Each year, a company rises to compete with world’s leading smartphone corporations.
It’s been noticed that Apple has been declining gradually due to its competitor Samsung. Yet the ongoing battle remains between other smartphone companies striving to get to the throne! Oppo has been a rising power in the last few years and substantiated its competence with its powerful yet affordable smartphones like last year’s Oppo Reno 4. On the other side, there is Xiomi Redmi’s Poco X3 NFC trying to steal the spotlight from Reno4. This article aims to cover both the similarities and differences of Poco X3 and Reno 4 as well as suggest which one is better based on our personal choice.
Starting off with Poco’s exclusive hot deal the X3 NFC! This phone comes in strong with its new features, that we will mention later. The surprise for Xiomi’s fan is that this smartphone comes at a lesser price despite its impressive gaming performance all thanks to Snapdragon G-series processor and a 120Hz screen, along with long lasting battery life. In fact, Poco X3 screen is the only one available for such a low budget phone which renders this phone a walking beast and worth every penny. A big wide screen with the HDR tech makes your experience a lot more enjoyable. The 120Hz comes in handy as lets you swipe swiftly between screens with ultimate smoothness. Another highly valuable feature this phone has is its Snapdragon 732G with 6GB of RAM . Benchmark results show that its CPU ranks the highest which grants users a very powerful performance; in Greekbench5 X3 scores 1,699 and in 3DMark’s Sling Shot Extreme test scores 2,622. The Snapdragon 732G scores way higher and more powerful than Snapdragon 665 which scored only 1,300. The CPU performance can be ranked above average; Fortnite can be played at medium graphics securing a 25fps with the resolution maxed out. Pretty powerful for a phone this affordable!
Another special characteristic about this smartphone is the Stereo speaker which releases the sound from both the speakers and audio jack. Hence you will enjoy a loud sound experience clearly felt especially during gaming. Last but not least the camera; 4 rear cameras arranged in a rounded rectangle with the LED flashlight providing symmetry. The main camera has a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 sensor, while The second camera has an ultra-wide lens and an unnamed 13-megapixel sensor. But what is special about this phone’s camera is that it allows you to shoot video both with the initial primal camera and the secondary camera which doubles the quality. Nevertheless, nothing is perfect and that is why we will enlist a few disadvantages that come with this phone if you decide to purchase it. First, there is no dedicated external memory microSD slot. Secondly, the phone comes with an integrated battery, which means you cannot remove it in case it gets damaged! Third, there is no led light flash, and the camera uses a single lens.
II- Oppo’s Reno 4
The second part of this article will cover Oppo’s Reno 4 where we will cover in-depth the special features of this smartphone and highlight some of the drawbacks as well. Oppo has released the Reno series; 3 models in the last year.
The Reno 4 is a gorgeous looking phone, with a fast-charging ability, and a huge wide screen. From the first glance while you hold this phone, you immediately notice that it is not “just a regular smartphone”. It feels lightweight with only 165G, thin with 7.7M, and comes with curved edges, which makes one handed typing possible and easy. The overall design is neat and eye pleasing; it comes with a plastic and harsh textured back . Moreover, the Reno 4 comes with an AMOLED screen sized 6,4, a 1080×2400 pixels and supporting HDR. All in all, you will most definitely enjoy watching videos on this phone as it gives you very vibrant looking images and a wide screen with high quality that goes up to 1080p60 HDR.
On top of the screen, you will have the selfie camera accompanied by a new air control that lets you manage the phone remotely; however, this only includes swiping up and down in apps or picking up phone calls. Oppo uses a remarkably powerful processor; the Snapdragon 720G (8NM) and includes the Adreno 618 with 8GB of RAM and 128 storage. This is why Reno has scored a total of 281368 in AnTuTu Benchmark. Subsequently, gaming becomes very smooth and lag free; Fortnite, PUBG, and Call of Duty Mobile are playable on high graphics. Equally important is the battery life Reno 4 comes with; a 4015MAH battery and a 7hours worth of gaming or 12hours of binge watching. Camera quality is also noteworthy, as Reno 4 contains a total of 4 cameras ; 48MP, f/1.7 ; 8MP, f/2.2 ; 2MP, 2.4 ; 2MP, f/2.4.
Nevertheless, the phone has some weak points we will mention and first and foremost is the plastic design, especially the plastic edges. A Not so premium looking grip.
Reno 4 also has no waterproof and does not support the 90Hz nor the optical zoom feature.
On the whole, the Reno 4 is a full package, performance, quality, and durability. Poco X3 NFC on the other hand has a huge advantage which is pricing. While comparing the features of both these powerful phones, we concluded that the Poco X3 is the winner except for the screen size which gives Oppo Reno 4 the advantage.
